What's my background?

Prior to joining Gradconsult, I spent a decade designing, delivering and managing large-scale employability initiatives. Most recently I launched and developed EC Futures at Coventry University, leading this specialist faculty employability unit to be awarded a Teaching Excellence Award for Employability and twice winning the Best Placement Service in the UK at the National Undergraduate Employability Awards.

I am a passionate advocate for the employability agenda across the UK and Europe. I was Chair of PlaceNet (The professional network for HE employability professionals), have been a member of the Target Jobs Editorial Board, currently feature on the EURASHE (European Association of Higher Education) list of European Higher Education Experts and I recently delivered a TEDx talk called 'The Work Ready Graduate Conundrum'. I was honoured to win the Outstanding Contribution Award at the National Undergraduate Employability Awards.

I am also employed as an Associate of the ISE (formerly AGR), have delivered professional training for AGCAS members and sat on the Employer Advisory Board for Henley Business School.

I blog regularly on the topic of graduate employment for organisations such as Wonkhe and HEPI and have been invited to present at international careers conference such as NACE (USA) and NAGCAS (Australia). I am a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA) and an expert judge on the National Undergraduate Employability Awards.

What do I do at Gradconsult?

I am a Director and I work alongside Rebecca to support the sustainable growth and strategic direction of the business. Alongside my leadership role, I bring my years of experience working within Higher Education, developing industrial partnerships and employability strategy, to consult on a wide range of projects. Examples of recent projects I have worked on include:

  • Carrying out competitor analysis research and reporting for a number of universities across the UK
  • Design and development of skills programmes for widening participation students
  • Designing tailored employer engagement strategies for a range of universities
  • Developing and implementing a university's placement strategy
  • Developing an Employer Advisory Board framework
  • Designing and leading workshops working directly with students to enhance their employability, at universities across the UK and Europe
  • Staff and leadership development within careers services
