What's my background?
I’ve worked at Gradconsult for two years and love the variety of work that I am involved in – from running mock assessment centres for a university client one day to writing a university briefing pack for an SME the next.
Before that, I studied Biomedical Science at The University of Sheffield, but realised pretty quickly (probably my first day!) that a career in Science was not for me. My university experiences led me to develop a passion for student politics, wellbeing and the discourse around resilience, “snowflake students” and the transition from student to graduate/employee. I was Sheffield Students’ Union’s 2015/16 Welfare Officer, during which I spent my time working on a huge range of initiatives to try and improve students’ lives. I am currently a Trustee for SAIL, a small Derbyshire-based charity that provides support for survivors of sexual abuse. Find out more about my background on LinkedIn.
What do I do for Gradconsult?
I joined the business as a Summer Intern in 2016 and have never left! I worked as a Project Coordinator for 9 months, supporting Consultants with a range of projects before progressing into a Project Consultant role. Over the past two years I have gained varied experience in the wonderful world of graduate employability, from managing the RISE SCR recruitment scheme where I’ve helped place hundreds of graduates into SMEs across the entire Sheffield City Region, to spending 7 months seconded to Kingston University’s Careers Service as an Employability Consultant and Talent Preparation Officer.
