What’s my background?
Before I graduated from the University of Liverpool with a psychology degree, I worked in customer service roles in insurance. My desire and passion to work with people led me to wanting to pursue a degree in psychology, so I could enhance my understanding of people which I could then utilise to deliver the best service I could in my career. Upon studying at Liverpool, I found out about the Career Studio, which was part of the wider Careers & Employability service.
I applied for a role as a Career Coach and ended up working as a coach for two years, helping students with all aspects of their career planning. I got to work with hundreds of students at various stages in their career journey, spanning from a simple CV check to having more explorative conversations about their career interests and what roles would suit them. I started to appreciate how important a career is in anyone’s life and wanted to continue in this field, so I could continue to support students in what is probably the most important outcome of their university degree – their career.
During my time at university, I also worked with a wonderful charity, ReachOut, as a Volunteer Mentor and later a Project Leader. Both experiences enabled me to conduct work that was truly meaningful for me – working with and supporting others.
What do I do at Gradconsult?
Like my fellow Project Consultants, I utilise my knowledge on careers that I gained from my time as a Career Coach and help to support career-related workshops and sessions for students. The Project Consultants, and the wider Gradconsult team, share their knowledge and expertise with each other to deliver engaging and informative sessions for anyone who takes part.
