  • Are you a leader in a university careers team and wanting to take the next step in your leadership journey?

    Our Emerging Leaders Development Programme gives you all the development that you need to take your leadership practice to the next level.

    Working alongside learning and development specialists, the Gradconsult Emerging Leaders Development Programme has been designed by careers professionals who understand the challenges, opportunities and context that practitioners are working in, especially as you navigate the complexity of leadership in HE careers.

  • Emerging Leaders will:

    • Explore key leadership areas through the lens of careers and employability delivery

    • Enable you to make positive changes to your ways of working through interactive activities, discussion and peer learning

    • Connect you to the next generation of super careers leaders

  • Practical information

    The programme consists of 5 online modules and will culminate with an in-person showcase event. We typically run two cohorts per year. A place on the programme costs £950 + VAT.

Course outline

This is not a generic leadership development programme. It is fully rooted in the careers and employability sector and includes case studies, panel discussions and opportunities to learn from shared experiences with other practitioners. All delivered by the Gradconsult Team who are truly 'of the sector, and for the sector'.

Participants are placed into small groups. After each module they are given a task to help them to apply their learning. They then meet in their "growth groups", at a time of their choosing, to hold one another accountable, reflect on their learning, and think about future actions. These groups help participants to build their skills, learn from one another and ensure the programme enables them to make practical and tangible steps forward.

  • This session covers:

    • Landscapes of practice

    • Negotiation and the art of saying no

    • Sharing success/challenge

    • Aligning with institutional agendas

  • This session covers:

    • Why collaborate?

    • How to build effective partnerships

    • Growing your influence within the sector

  • The culmination of the programme is an in-person event. Participants meet to discuss "hot topics" within the sector with a panel of careers super stars at an exclusive panel event. The event finishes with networking and a chance to cement connections and celebrate achievements.
